My Weight Loss Story

How are ya? [laughs] I'm gonna tell you my weight loss story. I've never really...
..told anyone my weight loss story in explicit detail before. But I figured it could be
really beneficial, so here it is!
The fifth grade was a really transitional stage for me.
I feel like it kind of marked the end of my childhood.
It was the first year that people started overtly judging me based on how I looked.
And it really took a toll on my perspective.

Before the fifth grade, I would walk into a room and I would take everything in...
..and I wouldn't really worry about what I looked like,
..after the fifth grade, I would kind of walk into a room and be like: 'who's noticing me?'; 'I hope no one's noticing me', 'and if someone...
..is noticing me, I hope they don't tell me what they're noticing.'
I feel like girls are just suddenly immersed into this realm of judgment and we don't really have a say in it.
The things they called me that are relevant to this video, was they said I was...
..a skeleton, that I was skinny to the point that I was gross, that I was flat as a board.
etcetera... I didn't really understand it at first, but it really got to me.
So, I did a little eating. I ate everything I could get my hands on.
And it was great, I'm not gonna lie. But it started to really really...
..hit me after I graduated high school in
and I didn't care anymore. It really took a...
..toll on my lifestyle and I was
always grumpy and irritable, and I didn't...
..have any energy. And I felt like I was cheated out of a lot of really good memories,
..because I didn't have the confidence to go out and do things anymore.
I guess the moral of the story here is: don't listen to what other people say, and only do what you do because...
..you want to, not because you're conditioned to be shy and spiteful and...
..jealous, just like the girls who bullied you. I'm gonna be honest...
..it took a LOT of work to get back to where I am today. You have to want it SO BAD.
When I was trying to get out of my rut, I did a lot of what's called yo-yo dieting, meaning...
..I would do really good one day, and then I would cheat the next day and then I would, do good again...
..and I would feel like I earned another cheat day.
It was just a vicious cycle that's really bad for your skin and really bad...
..for your metabolism. It took me a long time to realize that getting healthy is a...
..lifestyle change, and so I had to start slowly and surely incorporating these good things...
...things into my life. My sister got criticized the same way that I did, but...
..she never really cared what people thought, so she's always been very skinny.
We both have a taste for bad food, but she doesn't eat nearly as much and she...
..gets tired of bad food quicker, so it was her idea to start swapping in good foods...
for bad foods. And here's my sister to talk about diet and food swaps...
Once you start eating healthy, you'll look back on the foods you used to eat and you'll
and you wonder how yo--you know, that's not really food?
Good food doesn't have to taste bad, it's just when you're used to a lot of fat...
..and salts, and those kind of things, it may come off as a little bit bland, but if you
just keep going with a healthy diet and stay patient, then you'll notice a big difference.
And you'll notice how good natural things taste! An avocado might not seem that appealing to you...
..at first, but over time, they're just great. A lot of people find...
..it difficult to
find alternatives to certain foods.
So I'm gonna share a couple food swaps that me and my sister like.
I really like blueberry muffins, so we make blueberry BUCKWHEAT muffins. You see what I did there? [laughs]
Buckwheat flour is a healthy alternative to flour, because it's not even a grain. It's actually a ground up...
..fruit seed in the same family as rhubarb. So we like to make stir fry, but instead of having it on top of white rice,
..we have it on top of quinoa. When we're running short on time, or low on ingredients...
..or whatever the case may be, I like to use this Mr. Spice...
..Ginger Stir Fry. It's a healthy alternative to most sauces out there. It's low in...
..calories, gluten-free, salt-free, all that good stuff, so there's a lot of different...
..alternatives, out there. I also like to make a vegan blueberry creme cheese.

We literally have a swap for everything. And you'll notice a huge...
..difference in your energy, your skin and so many other things!
Actually I had a couple messages on what cool drinks I like to make and this one was...
..on the table, so I decided to grab it and show you guys.
It is... Blueberry, mint and Lime.
And it's kind of like a virgin mojito. It's a really healthy alternative to juice,
..because there's no added sugar other than the natural sugar.
Love it! So, some equipment we like to have on hand that makes at home working out...
..so much easier and productive,
..is a skipping rope. Skipping is an awesome way of getting your cardio in.
And it's also really fun to push yourself. It's a good full-body toner as well.
After a good session your arms should really burn. You should always get aerobic exercise in, because it's not only...
..good for your body, it's great for your brain. Ankle weights, wrist weights and also...
..these things!
uh... there really good for pushups. This back thing... It works your triceps.
I don't know the exact name, but if you want I can do a follow up video of the things that you do with them.
When you buy them they come with a bunch of instructions with basic things that you can do.
And they're really handy. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to let me know
I'll see you soon! Bye!
I hope that my story helped and I hope my sister's advice helped as well! Thank a lot for watching and I'll see you again soon!
